Late-Morning House Fire in St. Paul

St. Paul firefighters tackled a house fire in Frogtown late Tuesday morning.

Crews were dispatched to 585 Charles Ave. about 11:45 a.m. for a report of a bed on fire. A second 9-1-1 call reported smoke coming from the home.

Engine 5 went on scene with flames showing from the second floor of the 2 1/2-story dwelling.

Engine 5 stretched an initial attack line and Engine 18 stretched a backup line.

Crews had the fire under control in 10 minutes. They reported that a portion of the stairs were burned away.
