June 3 – A house fire in Andover on Friday morning may have been sparked by lightning as a small storm moved through the metro.

Andover fire crews were called to 2505 153rd Ln. about 9:30 a.m. for a report of a home struck by lightning. The Anoka County auto aid was alerted as well.

Chief 3 went on scene with light smoke showing from the roof of the 2 1/2-story dwelling.

Firefighters climbed ground ladders and stretched a hoseline to the roof near the attic to open up the area where damage was visible.

For a brief time, as firefighters opened the voids, a moderate amount of smoke showing.

Ham Lake, Anoka-Champlin, Oak Grove and Ramsey crews were on scene. An engine from Coon Rapids covered Andover while crews were at the scene.

MAY 30 – Ham Lake Fire crews responded to a report of a possible building fire in the 300 block of Bunker Lake Boulevard on Sunday evening.

Ham Lake Chief 2 arrived and reported multiple vehicles on fire in a vehicle salvage yard.

Crews made access to the salvage yard and deployed attack lines to extinguish the fire and perform overhaul operations.

MAY 27 – Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Crews along with Anoka County Auto Aid departments responded to a dwelling fire in the 600 block of 129th lane NE in Blaine.

There was extensive damage to the single family home requiring significant overhaul.

Auto Aid brought crews from Ham Lake, Coon Rapids and Centennial Fire Departments to the scene.

May 7 – Ham Lake crews were called to the area of 133rd Lane and Aberdeen Street around 1:00 p.m. for a reported grass fire in the area.

Ham Lake Captain 13 went on scene first and reported a slow moving grass fire not endangering any structures.  Grass 1 and Grass 2 crews as well as Engine 1  arrived shortly after and quickly extinguished the fire.

Crews remained on scene for about 30 minutes mopping up hot spots.

April 25 – Fire, EMS and law responders were called to a two vehicle accident on Monday morning.

Ham Lake Fire and Allina EMS were called to the accident, at Andover Boulevard and Highway 65, about 10:15 a.m.

Crews arrived to find that a pickup truck rear-ended another truck, which appeared to be towing a trailer with debris.

Medics assessed the occupants of the vehicle and fire crews secured the vehicles.

It is unknown if EMS crews transported anyone from the scene.

Breaking: Numerous Agencies at Coon Rapids Brush Fire

April 15 – Several departments have been called to a large brush fire in Coon Rapids on Friday afternoon.

Coon Rapids crews were called to the Yellow Pine Street NW near 128th Avenue NW around 3:30 p.m. and found several fires burning along the railroad tracks that line the west side of the Bunker Hills Golf Course.

Mutual aid was called from Andover, Anoka-Champlin and Ham Lake for brush rigs and firefighters.

April 7
Spring Lake Park – Blaine – Mounds View (SBM) Fire crews with auto aid from Ham Lake and Centennial Fire Departments were dispatched to an attached garage fire at approximately 2:30 today on the 13000 Block of Owatonna Street NE.

SBM Chief 5 was first on scene and reported a fully involved attached garage fire and that crews would be taking an offensive strategy.

SBM Engine 11 arrived shortly after Chief 5 and deployed a pre-connect to the garage and  quickly knocked down the body of fire.  SBM crews stretched a 2nd pre-connect to prevent the spread of fire into the residence.

SBM crews along with Centennial Ladder 21 and Ham Lake Engine 1 remained on scene to perform extensive overhaul on the structure.
