Three Escape Golden Valley House Fire

Firefighters battled a house fire at sun rose in Golden Valley Tuesday morning.

KMSP is reporting that “neighbors shoveled snow to clear fire hydrants for firefighters” as they arrived at the home in the 1300 block of Toledo Avenue around 7:45 a.m.

Fire Chief Mark Kuhnly said the attached garage of the one-story home was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

Three residents and two dogs escaped the blaze that consumed the garage and much of the home.

Mutual aid was received from Robbinsdale and West Metro fire departments.

Photographer Amy Heaney created a video after capturing photos of Rochester firefighters duringa live burn for their new recruits.

Heaney went on a medical mission to Haiti this past spring and returned with a new outlook on her photography career.

“I have dedicated myself to Paying It Forward and using my skills for many nonprofits,” Heaney told Twin Cities Fire Wire. “The Rochester Fire Department just became a piece of that.:

“After just one day with them I feel like I am a part of their family,” she said.
