Fire Destroys Detroit Lakes Building

Fire destroyed a building housing artists and a hair salon in Detroit Lake Friday night.

The one-story building on West Lake Drive was occupied b. Salon, Center Stage Dance Academy and Jay Schurman Photography Studio.

Detroit Lakes Fire Chief Jeff Swanson told the Detroit Lakes Newspaper that “the building was fully engulfed when the fire department arrived” at 7:20 p.m.

Firefighters operated handlines and a master stream from a ladder tower into the building.

Firefighters from Audubon and Frazee Fire Departments assisted Detroit Lakes crews.
