Update: Hennepin County Law Training Site Fire in Maple Grove

The fire at the Hennepin County Law Enforcement Training Facility in Maple Grove was placed under control just before 6 p.m.

Maple Grove Fire Chief Scott Anderson told Twin Cities Fire Wire that the fire is in the contents used as a backstop for the gun range at the facility. As it burned, it created a very smoky condition inside the building.

The fire, at 11370 89th Ave. North, was reported about 3:00 p.m.

Crews relayed difficulty in finding the seat of the fire, according to scanner traffic from the scene.

Anderson said that he expects crews to be on scene for an extended amount of time.

Crews from Anoka-Champlin, Brooklyn Park and Osseo fire departments are at the scene.

Breaking: Fire at Hennepin County Law Enforcement Training Center

Fire crews from the North Metro are battling a smoky fire at the Hennepin County Law Enforcement Training Facility in Maple Grove on Saturday afternoon.

The fire, at 11370 89th Ave. North, was reported about 3:00 p.m.

Crews are having difficulty finding the source of the fire. At 4:30 p.m., the fire was not under control.

Crews from Anoka-Champlin, Brooklyn Park and Osseo fire departments are at the scene.

Three-Alarm Fire Strikes Burnsville Apartments

Few details are available about a fire that broke out shortly after midnight Saturday at a Burnsville apartment complex.

Fire crews were called to the Raven Hill Apartments — 13050 Harriet Ave. South. —  about 12:10 a.m. The caller reported smoke and flames from a third floor apartment.

Burnsville Engine 2 went on scene with heavy smoke from a three-story garden apartment complex and requested a second alarm.

Minutes later, a third alarm was requested along with additional ambulances.

Firefighters from Apple Valley and Bloomington were on the scene, assisting Burnsville units. Several ambulances from Allina were called as well.

Several fires have damaged units at the Raven Hill Apartments in the last few years, including a June 2007 fire that left dozens of families homeless.

Firefighters battled flames as it consumed an attached garage in Champlin on Friday afternoon.

Anoka-Champlin Crews were called to 10911 Tanglewood Ln. North about 4:30 p.m.

They arrived to find heavy fire from an attached garage and deployed several handlines to the garage and into the home.

Mutual aid was received from Andover, Maple Grove, Osseo and Ramsey.
